It’s National Ice Cream Month and in the Senior Living sector ice cream is one of the most popular dessert items we offer on our menus. It is a tried and true comforting food! From classic flavours like vanilla and chocolate, to fun variations like ice cream bars and sandwiches – ice cream always brings a smile to the face of those enjoying it, both young and older. So join us for the month of July as we celebrate the joy and fun that ice cream brings all year ‘round!

MealSuite has shared this delicious recipe for Strawberry Ice Cream Sundae & Toppings and it is a must try! We just had to share it with you.

*Important reminder: Wash hands prior to preparing this delicious treat and don’t forget to sanitize your equipment and surface.

Ingredients:

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Whipped topping
  • Strawberry flavour syrup
  • Maraschino cherries

Directions:

  1. Prepare whipped topping according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Refrigerate whipped topping, syrup and cherries prior to preparation.
  3. Keep ice cream frozen until preparation. Take only 1 gallon of ice cream out at a time during preparation.
  4. Maintain <40F/4C.
  5. Portion 1/2 cup ice cream topped with 1 tbsp syrup, 1 tbsp whipped topping and 1 cherry.

  • Try a different syrup – caramel, chocolate, blueberry, raspberry – the options are endless!
