A rare opportunity to join the dynamic management team at an award-winning not-for-profit Retirement Residence. Reporting to the Director of Food Services, the Food Services Manager will play a key role in advancing our dietary program through service excellence, innovation, and leadership.

You will provide operational expertise and direction to support high-quality hospitality, nutrition care, and food services, while ensuring the effective and efficient preparation and delivery of meals within legislative and budgetary requirements.

Qualifications

· Minimum 2 years of experience in dietary management, or within a hotel, restaurant, retirement, or senior living setting.

· Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced, unionized environment.

· Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, electronic systems, etc.).

· Ability to foster teamwork and deliver excellent customer service.

· In-depth knowledge of legislative regulations and policies related to food preparation and service.

· Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

· Knowledge of applicable legislation, including:

o RHRA guidelines

o Food Handlers’ Certification

o Human Rights Act

o Employment Standards Act

o Collective agreements

o Occupational Health and Safety Act

· Must successfully pass a vulnerable sector screening.

Responsibilities

· Participate in the development, delivery, and performance of the food services program, ensuring compliance with all legislative guidelines and expectations.

· Develop and manage initiatives in alignment with the organization’s mission and vision.

· Direct and oversee all functional areas within Dietary Services, including cost-effective planning and menu development.

· Supervise, motivate, and support dietary staff to ensure teamwork, productivity, and optimal use of skills.

· Oversee daily operations in both front and back of house.

· Cook and prepare a wide range of food items utilizing various cooking techniques

· Ensure food preparation meets health guidelines, including conducting regular quality assurance testing.

· Maintain equipment through proper use, cleanliness, and preventative care.

· Manage storage, inventory, and minimize waste.

· Monitor deliveries, record inventory, and manage food ordering.

· Conduct audits, investigations, and evaluations to ensure compliance with regulations and organizational standards.

· Address and resolve employee and resident concerns or complaints.

· Take a hands-on approach by regularly meeting with residents to assess and discuss food service needs and preferences.

· Coordinate catering, special projects, and dining-related activities.
