Qualifications
- Member in good standing with College of Dietitians of Ontario OR Canadian Society of Nutrition Managers
- Must have TB screening and vulnerable sector check
- Preference will be given to applicants with management experience in Long-Term Care or Retirement Homes
- Knowledgeable of the MOHLTC Act and its Regulations, RHRA Act and other relevant legislation
- Knowledge of the Ontario Food Premise Regulations, CCHSA/ORCA, OH & S Act.
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrates an ability to problem solve
- Computer Literacy – Experience with PCC, MealSuite and other electronic medical records (EMR) and food service management (FSM) programs is an asset
- Experience with food ordering and production systems, vendor coordination, and inventory management an asset
- Must be available to frequently travel to Partner Homes within Central and Southwestern Ontario, as needed based on operational priorities. Travel to other Ontario regions is occasionally required.
Responsibilities
- Participate in Operational Strategic Plans.
- Develop annual goals and objectives for the Dietary Service department and review implementation plans in consultation with the Director of Nutrition and Dietary Operations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the Dietary Service Department through audits and trend analysis.
- In collaboration with the Director of Nutrition and Dietary Operations, supervise the execution of the food service programs at all Partner Homes.
- Provide support to the Homes Nutrition Managers and Retirement Managers to ensure food quality and safety is maintained.
- Communicate progress and successes to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure that the Homes are in compliance with their policy and procedures related to Dining Services and Food Service operations and provide recommendations to changes as necessary.
- Assist in regular policy and procedure review related to food service operations and nutritional care.
- Develop standardized seasonal menus, for Long Term Care and Retirement Homes; included in this are standardized recipes, production schedules, order guides, therapeutic menus, cost analysis and recipes, etc.
- Provide leadership and evaluation of the quality of meal service given to Residents – complete review of products being used and seek alternatives from suppliers.
- Monitor compliance to dietary budget. Includes follow up of non-compliance status and development of strategies to support the Homes in achieving budget goals
- Conduct onsite Audits for all Partner Long-Term Care and Retirement Homes.
- Conduct regular Home visits at each Home and submit a Home Visit Report to Head Office.
- Review of inspection reports from the Ministry of Long-Term Care, RHRA and Public Health units, providing recommendations to Executive Director and Food Nutrition Manager/Retirement Home Manager on how to correct any deficiencies.
- Assists Food Nutrition Managers in developing and implementing operational plans.
- Recognize safety hazards and promote a safe environment for Residents and staff by following an established policy and procedure and reporting hazardous situation in a timely fashion.
- Collaborate and provide support to the Homes through education and training.
- Assist in the onboarding, training, development and evaluation of the Nutrition Managers in all Homes.
- Lead and coordinate multi-Home projects such as standardized menu rollouts, policy updates, and process improvements.
- Act as a liaison between Partner Homes, corporate teams, and external vendors to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of operational issues.
- Mentor and coach Nutrition Managers and other dietary leaders to support professional development and consistency in operations
- Complete other duties as assigned.
